B'NAI BRITH GIRLS
BBG: History
LAUREN MOND
BBG: Welcome
I know this format is quite untraditional, so I won’t keep you for long!
My advice comes straight from a poem! Search “The Invitation” by Oriah Mountain Dreamer and take a read if you want. My favorite line is: “It doesn't interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive.” Take a risk! Have fun! Do what you want! High school and BBYO go by so fast, so make sure you have no regrets.
And with that, I move into my dedications
I dedicate my past to:
Karinne Bernanke, Andy Kotz, Jeremy White, Anna Wilson, Tara Murray, Corinne Brager, Jordan Schuler, Sophie Levy, Eliza Weidner, Ben Rappaport, Ilana Hamer, Lexi Lampkin, & Hannah Haine.
I dedicate my Present to the class of 2020:
Jamie Horwitz: Oh hey! I was scrolling through my notes the other day and found where I typed “Jamie says you can’t compromise with children on bed times.” No idea what the context behind that was, but I wanted to include it. Thanks for all the giggles, advice, and frequent facetimes. Also, thanks for being my bbyo mom and best friend. I’ve loved being by your side these past 4 years and watching you grow from our CLTC N’siah to the leader you are today. Sending so many hugs-- expect a bazillion visits next year.
Sam Rappaport: So many things to say and so little space to do it! I’ve loved working alongside you this year. Thank you for always letting me rant about politics, getting into ethical dilemmas with me, and always being there to bounce my hair. Go hoosiers? Go heels? The world may never know.
Jack Rogers: Jack Rogers! I don’t remember when we became friends, but I’m glad we did. I feel obligated to acknowledge that until sophomore year, all I knew about you was that you shared a name with a shoe brand, but I thought it was pretty dope. I love hearing your wild stories. I know you’ll be far away next year, but come visit next year and we can go to a canes game together!
Dean Ben Moishe: I don’t know who I would’ve been in BBYO if not for you nicknaming me the bounce queen. Glad I’m still the reigning champion. P.S. I told my mom you were going to college with me, and she was so excited. Go pack!
Maya Lapidot: Wishing you the best in the holy land next year!!! I wish we would’ve gotten closer sooner. Thanks for being my chapstick supplier (sorry I got you sick at regionals). Will miss you next year, but please keep in touch!
Ben Goldman: I appreciate all of your wisdom. Also I love hearing about your wild adventures. Our convos never fail to put a smile on my face. Glad we could determine your celeb look alike at cookout— it’s crazy accurate. Still sad that we weren’t friends in middle school, but I’m glad we’ve become pals. Keep rockin dude (it’s cringy typed but it would’ve been even cringier if I said it).
Abby Adams: You are doing such big things, it’s amazing! Keep changing the world around you. Hope to see you next year-- go heels!
Dana Shulman: Throwback to eighth grade when you and Dana were the only out of town girls from our grade! I had so much fun when you stayed here and I’ve loved getting to know you over the years. 28 with you was a blast, and I can’t wait to see all you accomplish in these next few years!!!
Jackie Jewel: I’m so glad I’ve gotten a chance to get closer with you through BBYO. You radiate pure positivity and your smile is contagious. You are the brewing tea master! I know we don’t talk much, but I can count on you whenever I need a smile! Good luck next year!
Alyssa Harrison, Leah Harrison, & Sam Baum: Can’t believe I’ve known you guys for basically our entire lives. Look at where we are today! I’m so appreciative of our journey together & wanted to wish you all the best next year.
I dedicate my Future to:
Sam Schulman: I admire you so much. I remember being extremely upset one Tuesday in the snack lounge and you just sat with me and talked me through it. You are such a genuine, kind soul. I truly appreciate how much you care about both the people you know and everything you do. I also wanted to tell you that I’m giving you my most prized possession-- the iconic traffic cone. Noah Merenbloom and Tara Murray were driving. Noah the hit cone, so Tara yelled get rid of the evidence. They took the cone. Tara didn’t know what it meant. She gave it to Andy Kotz. Andy didn’t know what it meant. He gave it to me. I don’t know what it means. And now, I give it to you. Have fun explaining to your parents why you are bringing home a dirty traffic cone ;)
Thalia Terlecki & Avi Kurtz: I’ve loved working with both of you this year. You’ve both inspired me beyond words. Your dedication to improving Nehsama, NCC, and BBG as a whole is amazing to watch. Can’t wait to see all you accomplish in BBYO and in life! Please visit me next year!!!
Eddie Horwitz: You are potentially one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. I appreciate you letting me be in one of Hank’s tik toks. Expecting big things out of you!
Daniel Pearlman: Remember that late night convo where you wouldn’t stop speaking in Hebrew? Yeah me too. Sad you knocked me off the beam in the Big Air battle, but I’m challenging you to a rematch. Also, go Jaws! So proud of you for iBoard-- do big things this year!!!
Talia Granick, Leah Aronson, Mikhaila Floyd, Celia Gottlieb, Avery Rosen, & Alyssa Harrison (even though you are also a senior): I am so honored to have worked with you all this year. You all inspired me, taught me, encouraged me, and more. I was so lucky to have such an amazing cohort of N’siot. I know you impressed me (& many others) with how passionately and diligently you led your chapters this year. So excited to see all of the amazing things you do next year in BBYO and beyond.
Alex Reich: Your dance moves are killer. Your magic is killer. I love the positivity you exude! You are the coolest. So glad I’ve gotten to know you these past few years!!!
Anya Dippold: You are the sweetest and most compassionate. I miss our family Havdallah get togethers! I love hearing your take on things. Your individuality and passion always shines through with everything you do!
David Mond: Hello! I live with you, so I guess I could just tell you this in person, but just wanted
to shout you out for being a cool brother.
Zach Schuler: You are the literal best. I always love seeing your smiling face in the hallways! Your seminar questions remind me of how much fun I had in that class, so I hope it brings you the same laughter, stress, and growth as it did for me. Zach for president 2050!
Kayla Swenson: You’ve told me many times that you are marrying my brother, so I had to ensure that I included my future sister in law! A fellow curly girl! Anywho, I love hearing your bubbly laugh. Keep on being you.
Sydney Zolotorofe: You inspire me daily!!! I think your passion for learning languages is so cool. Whenever you walk into a room, it lights up.
Daniel Oringel: I love your family, therefore, I love you. Honestly, it’s so inspirational that you started your own business because you found something you love! Don’t tell your sister, but you are my favorite Oringel ;)
Hannah Silverman: You are the cutest! I loved getting to know you @ MIT/AIT! Please keep in touch with me these next few years-- I want to know about everything! Will miss ya!
Harp Sandman & Langdon Aronson: Sometimes I think you guys are scared of me, but I always enjoy our conversations. I see so much potential in you guys and can’t wait to hear where life takes ya! I'll be close by next year so please come visit!
Daria Lapidot: I love your energy!!! You’ve done so much for O already, and I’m so excited to see what you do in BBYO!
If your name is on this list, shoot me a text! I have a more in depth ~dedication~ for ya! :)
Lastly, I dedicate my future to every Aleph and BBG in NCC. Please continue being the strong, inspiring people that I know all you are.
Submitted with undying love for Krav maga, karaoke machines, kachow, light up toothbrushes, pilot pens, go pack, ned, naama killing ned, getting a new ned, ned dying again, all of 28 getting their own ned, ocean 29, the gulag, jewper heros, Back to the Jewture, CLTC 2 2017, Perlman 2018, Chai Chaverim BBG #1548-552, you, me, and North Carolina Council,

BBG: About
JAMIE HORWITZ
BBG: Welcome
Stand up and stand out! One of the most distinct bits of information that I remember from my entire “BBYO career” was from early on in CLTC. I can’t even remember exactly what was said, but I do remember the jist. Basically the Judaics leader told us to respect everyone else’s beliefs and practices during shira and Shabbat because everyone is different and shows their beliefs differently. This applies to BBYO and life in so many ways, but at that very moment I decided that during Shabbat that day, I would stand up during the individual prayers until the last person was standing. In the scheme of things, this gesture is so small, but it can set the guidelines for the rest of your life in both BBYO and outside. Stand up for yourself, your friends, and your beliefs! It’s ok to be alone at first and it's ok to look weird, I know I do almost all the time. I was showing others that no matter what, no one was going to stand alone, even if their beliefs and practices differ from mine. If it were not for BBYO, I would have the confidence to even stand up in front of everyone, whether it was leading a service, or giving a life speech. But because of the small gestures that started in eighth grade until now, I have found a community that allows me to stand up and stand out. I know I will never be alone, just like the first service I attended at CLTC.
And with that, I move into my dedications.
I dedicate my past to Shane Freeman, Abby Meyer, Sophie Levy, Eliza Weidner, Corrinne Brager, Naama Rosen, Ilana Hamer, Maytal Agasi, and Tara Murray.
I dedicate my present to the class of 2020.
Saul and Shaina I will do y’all at chapter life if that is still a thing.
Abby Adams! Wowza you’re so cool like everything you do amazes me fr. Your passion is incredible and inspiring. I have loved being on board with you this year and cannot wait to see what awesome things you do next.
Maya Lapidot! Thanks for always being my buddy on all calls and at all conventions. I can always count on you to make me smile and to point out something weird that someone is doing on a call. Love you so much girl and thanks for being a fantastic friend!!
Sydney Fishman! Cannot wait for four more years!! I have had a blast with you over the past four years and so glad I get to see where you will go in the future!
Lila Cohen! Hey girl! I loved getting to know you over the past four years and can’t wait to see what you do in the future!
Sofrog! I don’t even know where to start. Thanks for being my best friend from camp to BBYO. Love you so much and I know I can always talk to you about anything whether that is Netflix or “major” life decisions. Keep doing you and I promise I will give you your shirt back at some point.
Jules Oringel! You absolutely amaze me with everything you do. I’m so glad we have gotten close over the last four years and I know you are going to kill it next year!
Lauren Mond! Holy Moly. I can’t believe as soon as I finally get you to come to Raleigh I am going to be 5.5 hours away. I love you so much best friend. You're such an amazing role model inside and outside of BBYO, and I don't know what I would have done without you these past five years. Love you long time LEM!
I dedicate my future to every single Aleph and BBG sitting in this room (haha jk in everyone’s individual rooms). You each have the potential to make a difference in Eastern Region, and I can not wait to see how far all of you go. Also I know that there are a ton that I forgot so please text me and keep in touch!!! Sending passdowns in the mail!

Noam Aizenberg! You killed it this year as Giz! You are going to do amazing things next year:)

Daniel Pearlman! The moment we found out you won i board will forever be in my memory because I have actually never seen Maya (or anyone) cry as hard as hard in my entire life. Keep doing amazing things!!
Sam Schulman! I think you’re so cool. You are such an amazing friend to everyone and for sure the one of the big reasons Eastern will continue to thrive in the future. Keep it up and stay in touch!
Sam Baumstein! Hey! This is pretty much the most i’ve said to you all year even though we were cos lol! Fr can’t wait to see what you do next year! Sorry if I was annoying!
Thalia Therlecki! You're such a queen. Being on board with you this year had been a blast! Love you so much and please please please visit me next year.

BBG: About
JORDAN JAFFIE
BBG: Welcome
This is not exactly how I imagined my council life “speech” going, but I am grateful to be able to share it with all of you. From BBYO connect in middle school to finishing my senior year in BBYO virtually, I have had an incredible time and I want to take you all on a journey to visit a few highlights. In the most organized way I can make it, I would like to introduce my life:
BBYO CONNECT
My BBYO career started off a bit bumpy. Although I didn’t always feel the most welcomed, I attended every single Connect program there was-bowling and minigolf, frozen yogurt, the pool parties, I was there. Not because my parents made me, but because I always felt that I wanted more. My first real BBYO program was Savannah’s pool party kickoff event. After doing a round of icebreakers everyone was ready to jump in. That was when the first crack of thunder was heard. Although we never actually got in the pool that day, I felt hopeful for what BBYO had to offer.
8TH GRADE TO FRESHMAN YEAR
On February 27, 2017, I answered my front door and found Allison Samuels and Evelyn Darling, two girls I was sort of familiar with, but not really. I was told to put my shoes on and that I was being kidnapped by BBYO. I went with it and ended up at the Javetz’s house. That night we learned BBG cheers and songs and made BBYO memory boxes (which were completely filled a year later). As soon as I got home I registered for Spring Convention 2017.
My first convention completely changed my view of BBYO. For most of the weekend I was a bit skeptical, but as soon as Havdalah ended, I was hooked. Seeing the seniors I had just met crying in the candlelight made me crave that passion. If that was going to be me in four years, I knew I wanted to be a part of this organization. Here, I was inspired and at my first chapter meeting, I was nominated to serve as chapter maz/giz. Honestly, I did not do much in that position but it introduced me to the idea of becoming a leader.
CLTC
Right before going to CLTC I was elected Chapter N’siah. I attended CLTC 7 2017 and I was the only teen from Eastern Region there. This forced me to come out of my shell and meet new people. For most of the first week I hated it. I felt uncomfortable and thought I had made a huge mistake going. By week two I was having the time of my life and leaving all of my new friends felt next to impossible. I still talk to some of them today and I’m so happy I was able to experience CLTC.
ILTC
I went to ILTC planning to learn a ton about regional leadership. I did, but on top of that, I made so many friends. For three weeks I felt completely at home. I lost every snapchat streak I had, but that did not matter to me in the slightest. The experiences I had at Perlman Camp will stay with me forever and I think every teen in BBYO should attend ILTC if they have the chance to. The friends I made that summer will stay with me forever and I know I will always have someone to talk to. Some of these people include Alyssa Harrison, Lindsey Brilliant, Isabelle Borr, Ashley Faber, and Emma Platt. From Dorm 5 to crying around the Perlman tree to spending all of my left over Shuk stamps on junk food on the last day, I felt the opposite of loneliness at ILTC.
COUNCIL BOARD
I have been extremely fortunate to have been able to serve on Council Board not once, not twice, but three times. In 2017 I served as Dixie Council’s 54th Maz/Giz. For Dixie Council, that position did not require a whole lot of work or responsibility, but for the first time I really saw myself as a leader and wanted to give back to the organization I had fallen in love with. This was the year that Dixie Council officially became a part of Eastern Region. In 2018 I ran for Dixie Council’s 55th S’ganit. I had such an amazing time running programs, coordinating Regionals 2018, and working with my other council counterparts. That year, I struggled a lot with voicing my opinion. I would go entire zoom calls without saying a word other than “Sure, I’m fine with that” when talking about an idea. By the end of my term I felt much more confident and was excited to run for Council N’siah. This past year on council board has been amazing. I’ve been able to apply all the leadership skills BBYO has taught me and make an impact on my council. My counterparts, Allison and Ari, and Lauren and Sam, have been so supportive and really made my term great. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to be a leader in my community and serve the council that I’ve come to know and love. I really have become a new person because of it.
DEDICATIONS: PAST
These past four years I have seen so many leaders before me. They inspired me, guided me, and introduced me to BBYO. Without them, I would have never gone to a convention, a summer program, or even a chapter program. I would like to dedicate my past to Sophie Guggenheim, Evelyn Darling, Melanie Ourhaan, Allison Samuels, and Jami Goldstein for making me feel welcomed into Wexler Clark BBG. I would also like to mention Ruthie Perlman, Gabe Adler, Sophie Brams, Zach Lutz, Julia Budenstein, Jennifer Bereskin, Bekka Wilson, Blake Strauss, Richard Epstein, and Naama Rosen for showing me what a leader looks like and inspiring me to become one myself. To many, these are just names without faces, but for me, they are the roots. They helped me grow into the person I am today.
DEDICATIONS: PRESENT
My present goes to all of my friends who I’ve spent my conventions with. I’m sure I can’t name them all, but they are all in my thoughts. I especially want to mention Noah Linfoot. We’ve grown up together for most of our lives. We attended just about every convention together, and although we cannot be any more different from each other, I consider you a great friend. When we were little you tried to drown me at JEA camp just about every day, and I’m sure a year of hebrew school, three years of highschool, and four years of BBYO with me has felt like more than enough time together, but I am so excited to take on the next four together. I love you, and GO DAWGS!!
I would also like to dedicate my life to one of my best friends and my second favorite cousin (after Andrew of course), Sarah Javetz. From the moment you were born, we were set up to be BFFs. You made every holiday, birthday, and family dinner bearable. Honestly, I was a little anxious for you to join BBYO because for a while I felt like it was “my thing”. However, getting to see you grow and come out of your shell has been the most rewarding part of my time in BBYO. The past few years have been so much fun with you and I know you’ll do amazing things for the chapter and council next year. You have been more emotional about me leaving BBYO than I have and I just want to say thank you and that I love you.
Of course, I also want to dedicate my present to my lovely ladies of Wexler Clark BBG. Zoey, Sarah, Sophie, and Jordyn, I have loved seeing you become leaders at home and I can’t wait to see what all you’ll do in the future. From the monthly chapter dinners to the uncomfortable calling parties, to the miserable JEA bus rides to conventions, I will miss every bit of our chapter and I’m sure you’ll continue to grow long after I am gone. Also, I cannot forget about the groovy group of people I have gotten to know and love from Columbia, South Carolina. I’m going to be honest, when I first met y’all you intimidated me, and I can still say today, Cola BBYO intimidates me. That! Is! Not! A! Bad! Thing! Your charisma and confidence shows me that our Council is in great hands and that I will be hearing so many amazing things in the future.
Benjamin Budenstein!! You have grown so much these past few years and I know you will do so much for Dixie next year. Just like Julia, you have so much pride for the council and region and are such a strong leader.
I cannot forget the one and only
Hadassah Sternfeld. You exude excitement and love for BBYO. You are passionate in everything that you do and I just want to tell you to never let anyone dim that spark. You have so much to give to Dixie and to Eastern Region and I am excited for you.
Finally, I want to dedicate my present to my fellow seniors. Even though most of them are inactive and might never see this, I want to say congratulations and that I will miss every single one of them next year.
I would also like to dedicate my present to all of the staff that I have had the pleasure working with these past four years. Ryan Woloshin, Ellen Goldstein, Lauren Revenson, Jillian Mann, Devra Silverman, Caitlyn Gardner, and Jackie Laban, I could not have done any of this without your help. You have seen me grow from being “essentially a mute” (Ryan’s words, not mine) to the person I am today, and I will forever be grateful. Thank you and I will miss you all.
DEDICATIONS: FUTURE
I would like to dedicate my future to the class of 2023 and 2024. I have only met a few of you, but I can already tell that your excitement and passion for BBYO will take you far. A few names in this group include Reese Cohen, Marlie Berger, Toby Stanton, and Ellie Rich.
I also want to dedicate my future to Dixie Council’s 57th Board. You are going to do incredible things next year and I will always be here if you need me.
Also, to those who are reading this who I have not met, I was once in your shoes, new to BBYO. You have so much potential, and the best advice I can give is that you get out of BBYO what you put into it. You only have so much time in this organization and I hope that you will make the best of it. Go to the conventions, you can miss seeing your school friends for one weekend. Go on summer programs! If you don’t you will definitely regret it. Time really does fly and high school will be over before you know it.
And finally, I would like to dedicate my future to one person in particular, and that is Amanda Kronowitz. I have not known you for very long, but in the time that I have, I see something in you. I see myself in you. At MIT/AIT during inductions, you told me that you want to be Dixie Council N’siah one day. Amanda, my wish for you is that you hold on to that excitement until that goal is achieved. You are already leaps and bounds ahead of where I was when I was your age. Your confidence is inspiring. I’m sure you will have the most amazing time at CLTC this summer and I can’t wait to see what all you will do in the future.
This organization has been my life, my heart, my soul, and my passion for five years now. I am unbelievably sad to let it go, but I know it is going to be in great hands. All good things must come to an end, and here we are.
Submitted with an undying love for Wexler Clark BBG #39, Eastern Region #6, Dixie Council #6, always being late to conventions, the JEA bus, dixie council sweatbands, the Gabe shirts, leaving Southern Region, “bo-time”, photoshop, Kween Grommy, everything Camp Weaver, Volcano the bearded dragon, teCHnically, South of the Border, CLTC 7 2017, ILTC 2018, the 54th, 55th, and 56th Dixie Council Boards, the class of 2020, and saying goodbye, I forever remain,
Jordan Alaina Jaffie,
Your damn proud 56th Dixie Council N’siah and an even prouder B’nai B’rith Girl.
BBG: About
ALLISON COMESS
BBG: Welcome
My Sister B'nai B'rith Girls and Brother Alephs
Thank you. Thank you for all the friends, memories, weird times, programs, hugs, smushes, travels, and everything in between. Thank you for providing me with an outlet for Judaism, a place to connect with others just like me, and overall a place to better myself. Thank you for teaching me how to be a leader, a listener, and a friend. Thank you for teaching me to speak my mind, be bold, and to break out of my shell. Thank you for giving me the most amazing 4 years of my life.
4 years is not much time at all. You only have four years to accomplish your dreams, change the game, and have the best time in bbyo. So, with such short time, go out and make the most of it and have no regrets. Talk to that intimidating, scary, shy, crazy, or weird person. Everyone you meet within bbyo is valuable and has a purpose.
"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take"
Take every chance you are given. Go to that program, run for board, speak up, you only have one chance to do bbyo, so why not do it right? Also, do things that take you out of your comfort zone, they will make you a better and stronger person. Perhaps my biggest advice I could give to you, the one reading, is to not be afraid to fail. Failing is important. I learned some of my best and most important life lessons every time I failed at something. Each time you fail, you become a better person. So, go out there, be bold, regret nothing, and kill it!
And with that, I move into my dedications
I dedicate my present to:
Leah: From Sarah's lake house, to Perlman, to horrible sonic milkshakes, to board, we have really been through it all together. I am so thankful for every memory we have together. You are such a great person and I really hope we keep in touch next year. I love your sense of humor and how you always speak your mind. I can't wait to hear about all of the amazing things you'll do at Elon, love you!
Asher: We have really been through everything together and have been friends since birth. I know that even if we don't end up at college together (fingers crossed that we do though!), we will still be super close. I could never forget all the weird conversations we have had, plane rides, and tons of memories we have and I can't wait to see what more there is to come! I love you so much!
T: I'm so upset that we didn't become friends sooner. However, I am so grateful for this past year that we have been friends. You are so wild, fun, and fearless and an amazing friend! You will go so far in life! Emory doesn't even know what is coming! I can't wait to (hopefully) hang out with you so much this summer, love you so much!
Mike: I think it is safe to say that we have really come full circle. You are a great guy and I always enjoy talking to you. I admire how you are so authentically yourself. Keep loving Shalom and enjoying Fetty Wap Wednesdays!!
Ari: We certainly do have a love/hate relationship, but when we are on the same page it is the best. While it is true that Chloe is the superior Krupnick, you are an amazing friend, co, and person, and I will truly miss you so much next year. Don't worry - when you're up in Maryland we will totally hang out. Seriously though, our friendship means the world to me, and I wouldn't trade it for the world, I love you so so much.
I dedicate my future to:
Emily: You are such an amazing friend, leader, and person and I am so lucky to have become so close with you this year! I can't wait to see you hard work and dedication take new heights next year, you'd better keep me updated constantly. You are so fun to be around and I hope we can hang out tons this summer! I love you!!!!
Nicole, Evie and Alex: Y'all are seriously the best and most funny group of girls out there. I love every time we get to hang out, especially when we get cookie cakes. We have so many weird memories that I wouldn't trade for the world. Y'all better come visit me this summer and in college, I love y'all!
Blake: From creating weird tik toks, to vegetable sushi, to marriage plot, to lola, and every memory in between, I have so enjoyed being your friend. You are hilarious and supportive and kind and such a great friend. I am so glad that Shelby made this friendship possible.
Leah, Claudia and Sydney: It has been so great being on board with you all this year. You all are such fun, caring, compassionate girls and I know you all will continue to do big things for VAC and Eastern next year !!
Danial: You are so fun to be around, and all around such a sweet guy. I can't wait to see you bring eastern to success next year! You will do such great things inside and outside of bbyo!
Grace, Rachel and Yael: You girls are some of the brightest leaders VAC has ever seen. You are all so brave, kind, and energetic and have already made huge contributions to your chapters and the council. I can't wait to see how much you all thrive next year, I love y'all so much
Submitted with undying love for: CLTC 4 2017, ILTC 2018, Kallah 2018, ILSI 2019, the 28th and 29th VAC BBG boards, Kruger BBG #603, Eastern Region #6, you, me, and VAC, I forever remain, Allison Ruth Comess, your damn proud 29th VAC N'siah and a even damn prouder BBG.
